Put Your Talents to Work

We need a few volunteers to be Ushers. This is a very rewarding activity as ushers are some of the first individuals met by church visitors. Ushers set the tone for our church. We rotate our usher team assignment so as to accommodate necessary absences. If you are interested in helping, please contact the Usher Coordinator, Ron Kart, at 269-5041 or gokart@bellsouth.net. Ron will be glad to answer any questions and provide you with a list of usher duties

Maybe you have been thinking about volunteering elsewhere. Now is the time to get involved! Simply complete the “I would like more information about” portion of the announcement sheet, put your name and contact information on the reverse side then tear it off and place it in the offering plate when passed, and someone will contact you. It takes many hands to perform the duties of the church and we need you!

The motto of Asbury UMC is “Knowing Christ, Growing in Christ, Serving Christ, Sharing Christ.” The church offers a variety of opportunities for you to live out this motto beginning with Worship each Sunday at 10:00 AM. We encourage you to be fully involved in Worship through song and God’s Word.

There are a number of small groups that meet each month that also help you live out our motto. A brief description of these groups are listed below. Now is the time to join one or more of these groups! If you have any questions or would like more information, please call the church office.

Pastor’s Bible Study, Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m.

Following the Wednesday Night dinner in Farr Hall, Pastor Chris leads an informal study of God’s word relating to everyday life, to the church, society, and current issues. The format is a combination of lecture, questions, answers and open discussion.

Brunch Bunch Bible Study, Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.

This group meets weekly in the Rutherford Room for a time of fellowship and Bible study.

Krafty Kritters, Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.

This group of women gather each week in the Youth Room for prayer, fellowship, and crafts. From shawls and lap throws for Hospice patients to hats and scarves for the homeless, their goal is to help those in need. They also teach new craft techniques and skills.

Hope Circle, Each Second Monday at 10:00 a.m.

This ladies group meets in the Hope Circle Room for a time of sharing, fellowship, ministry, and craft making. Each Monday a group member takes flowers left from Sunday Worship and delivers them to either someone in the hospital or one of our homebound members. They make lap robes for nursing home patients as well as other crafts. Hope Circle holds a craft sale twice a year to raise money for church mission projects, Vacation Bible School, and to provide monthly support to the Clay County Clothes Closet.

UMM (United Methodist Men), Every 3rd Saturday at 8:00 a.m.

UMM is a forum where the men of the church gather in service to support spiritual growth among men of all ages, helping men to mature as disciples as they encourage spiritual formation and service to others. The UMM support different projects such as the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, our annual pumpkin patch, and Habitat forHumanity. Each meeting begins with breakfast in Farr Hall.

XYZ (Xtra Years of Zest), Every 2nd Tuesday

The XYZ’s is comprised of senior adults in the church and it’s purpose is to provide Christian and social fellowship. They meet throughout the year, excluding the summer months. Some activities include exploring Northeast Florida through trips and of course they enjoy eating! All senior adults and their friends are welcome! The XYZ’s support various church activities such as the pumpkin patch and the Wednesday Night dinners.
