Covid-19 Response

Covid-19 Response

Dear Friends of Asbury UMC,

Greetings in the name of Jesus.

In keeping with the most recent recommendations released by the Centers for Disease Control on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, I encourage us to take up mask-wearing indoors, when others are present. In Florida, and particularly in the Jacksonville metro area, the number of Covid cases is increasing. With the new Delta variant, even fully vaccinated persons are becoming infected and are very ill. In order to keep our community safe, I ask that you:

– wear a mask at all indoor church functions
– observe social distancing while you are inside church facilities
– stay home if you are not feeling normal
– get vaccinated if you have not already

Additionally, Jacksonville recently held a town hall discussion in response to the current state of Covid in our area. Local experts and authorities are featured in this recorded webinar: ‘Jacksonville, our house is on fire’: Health experts, NE Florida leaders discuss Delta variant at COVID town hall | firstcoastnews.com. When you click on the link, the recording should start playing. The total time is about one hour and fifteen minutes.

If you should have any concerns about the safety of coming to church, please pass those on to me through the church office, info@asburyop.com. If you or someone you know wants to be tested and/or vaccinated, we will help. Let’s all do what we can to keep ourselves and others safe and healthy.

Peace,
Pastor Jennifer Ahrens-Sims
